Level

Overview

ProFlow Instrumentation Systems Inc.

Proflow offers solutions to all of your level needs from solids to liquids and interface. Because we work with a number of vendors who are leaders in the field of level measurement, we have level instruments using a host of different technologies, from the very simple to the very sophisticated.

From the most basic site glasses and liquid level gauges to the most sophisticated radar, ultrasonic and magnetostrictive technology, we have a solution to virtually any level measurement need.

Site Glasses and site Gauges

Sanitary Sight Gauges

Among the most simple yet reliable level measurement devices are site glasses and site gauges. We turn to Jogler for this tried and tested level measurement technology.

Jogler level gauges are simple: the only components (not including mounting hardware) are the armored shield, the sight tubing, and two self-sealing Super-Seal inserts. These products are maintenance-free, because only the Teflon Super-Seal inserts and the borosilicate sight tubing are exposed to process fluids. Once the gauges are installed, they do not have to be removed and disassembled for inspection or cleaning. Standard shields are epoxy-coated carbon steel.

Level Switches

Level Switches

ProFlow Instrumentation Systems offers a wide array of level switches for a variety of applications, including liquids, solids, and interface. Our range of switches from several vendors encompasses virtually every level switching technology on the market today.

SOR supplies our offering of simple, reliable mechanical switches. Float and displacer operated mechanical level switches are available with flanged or sealed chambers or as insertion models. Units may be customized to suit your specific needs.

Hycontrol offers a new non-contact ultrasonic instrument capable of monitoring levels with novel 'through the wall' technology that alleviates the need to make an opening in your vessel. Hycontrol also offers a host of classic level switching technologies, including: float switches, paddle switches (for solids), capacitive level switches, admittance level switches (great where product buildup is an issue) and microwave level switches.

Perhaps the most innovative product in our line are the CLASSIC 800 and BASIC 400 series of thermal switches from Kayden. These switches are the only thermal switches on the market that are capable of operating as a flow switch, level switch or interface switch while simultaneously offering temperature switch capability. The switches can be reconfigured by the end user as required.

Hydrostatic (DP) Level Transmitters

Submersible Level Transmitters

Measuring level by differential pressure has always been one of the classic methods. It is so basic and reliable a technology that it is frequently used as a backup where other level measurement techniques are employed.

Hycontrol manufactures a line of pressure transmitters that have been specifically developed for the high specifications required for accurate level measurement. These unit's piezoresistive pressure sensor is characterized by its high signal stability and is thermal compensated to reduce errors.

A wide range of process connections are available for chemical, process, and pharmaceutical applications, and all wetted parts are 316L stainless steel. A flush diaphragm ensures ease of cleaning and disinfecting for the food and pharmaceutical industries.

GP:50s line of submersible transmitters provide rugged, accurate, level measurement from 0-20" WC thru 0-1,200 FT WC. 316L SS or titanium construction provide years of corrosion free service. Whether measuring tank level, or sludge in a lift station, GP:50 provides submersible level solutions for all your application needs.

Ultrasonic and Radar Level Transmitters

Ultrasonic Level Meter

Non-contact level measurement technologies have become popular because of their ease of installation and use. We turn to Hycontrol for ultrasonic and radar level devices.

Hycontrols Microflex-C Ultrasonic Level measurement devices offer an economical non-contact level measurement technology. These two wire loop powered devices are compact, easy to instal and corrosion resistant.

Microflex-C devices can be configured to measure level or distance, in feet, metres, or percent of span. Unlike conventional ultrasonic level transmitters, which respond slowly to level changes, Microflex-C devices can track level changes as fast as 10 m per minute without signal loss.

Hycontrol manufactures an extensive range of Radar Level devices for non-contact measurement of liquids, solids, powders, and granules. Radar offers a number of advantages for level measurement. Radar is not affected by temperature, pressure, viscosity, foam, or dust.

Models are available to measure distances up to 80 m, and the high accuracy option enables accuracy of measurement down to 1 mm.

Magnetic Level Gauges

Magnetic Level Gauges

Jogler Magnetic Level Gauges are a safe, economical way to measure and control liquid levels in any application. They are suitable for high temperature and pressure, full vacuum, low-specific gravity liquids, and more. Jogler magnetic gauges can be used with vessels of almost any size and shape, and with any process fluid.

A magnetic float, inside the float chamber, is engineered to the specific gravity of the process fluid, so that it floats on the surface of the liquid. It contains a series of powerful magnets that actuate the external level indicator. All floats have 360-degree rotating magnetic fields.

A highly visible hermetically sealed indicator unit is mounted on the outside of the gauge. It contains a magnetic indicator that interlocks magnetically with the float inside the chamber. As the float moves up and down with the liquid level, the magnetic indicator element tracks the changes in level.

Magnetic switches can also be actuated by the magnetic float. A highly accurate magnetostrictive level transmitter can be attached to the gauge for continuous remote level monitoring.

Magnetostrictive Level Transmitters

Magnetostrictive Level Transmitter

Jogler manufactures several magnetostrictive level transmitters for varying applications.

The ILT-600 is designed for direct insertion into the process vessel via a low profile waveguide that is inserted into a waveguide sleeve and float assembly. The waveguide sleeve isolates the internal waveguide from the process environment and protects it from excessive process conditions. This provides an additional safety barrier for the operator. The major benefit is that the transmitter and waveguide can be removed for field checking without interruption or exposure to the process environment.

The ILT-BC-6000 combines the benefits of the standard ILT-6000 with a bypass chamber. This design provides an additional safety barrier for the operator, because the transmitter and waveguide can be removed for field checking from the chamber without interruption or exposure to process operations. The ILT-6000-BC is superior in design, provides greater accuracy, and is more reliable than outdated displacer types of level transmitter instrumentation.

The LGT-6000 series level transmitter is the first magnetostrictive level sensor that is specifically designed for sight glass automation. The low profile waveguide can be mounted internally into (wetted) or externally against (non-wetted) most sight gauge installations. This results in the operator obtaining 100% visual confirmation between the local level within the sight gauge and the remote level readout of the transmitter, provided by the float position.

The MGT-6000 series liquid level transmitter is exclusively for magnetic level indicators. The low profile waveguide is mounted on the outside of the level gauge chamber. This design isolates the dual sealed waveguide from excessive vibration and temperature. Enhanced sensor technology provides an output signal that is sensitive, fast, and accurate, with low power requirements. The MGT-6000 can be mounted and retrofitted to most magnetic liquid level indicators.
