Hycontrol

Overview

Hycontrol

Hycontrol has been established for over 25 years, manufacturing and supplying an extensive range of instrumentation to a wide and varied customer base throughout the world.Industries include: Water and Waste, Food and Beverage, Chemical and Petrochemical, Environmental and Utilities and the Quarry/Aggregate Industry. With our knowledge and experience with proven technology we have provided pressure, level and flow solutions on media as diverse as chocolate and sulphuric acid, cornflakes and bitumen. Our products have been fitted to everything from Nuclear Power Plants to Water and Waste Treatment Works. Hycontrol, having won several industry awards, also specializes in complete Level Measurement solutions including Display and Control Panels for dedicated applications designed around specific customer requirements.

Radar Level

Radar Level Meter

Hycontrol manufactures an extensive range of Radar Level devices for non-contact measurement on liquids, solids, powders and granules. Radar offers a number of advantages for level measurement. Radar is not affected by temperature, pressure, viscosity, foam or dust.

Models are available to measure distances up to 80 m, and the high accuracy option enables accuracy of measurement down to 1 mm.

A variety of styles, including horn, wave guide, wave stick and drop antenna allows level measurement of virtually any product. Hycontrol's unique Tank Bottom Following (TBF) technology even allows level measurement of products with dielectric constants as low as 1.5 to be measured.

Ultrasonic Level

Ultrasonic Level Meter

Hycontrol's Microflex-C Ultrasonic Level measurement devices offer an economical non-contact level measurement technology. These two wire loop powered devices are compact, easy to instal and corrosion resistant.

Microflex-C devices can be configured to measure level or distance, in feet or metres or percent of span. Unlike conventional ultrasonic level transmitters, which respond slowly to level changes, Microflex-C devices can track level changes as fast as 10 m per minute without signal loss.

ATEX hazardous area approved devices are available for zone zero use, and the PVDF transducer is ideal for use in corrosive applications.

Using a combination of unique echo extraction routines which have proven successful in thousands of ultrasonic level measuring instruments worldwide, you can expect the level of performance that you would expect for one of the leaders in ultrasonic level measurement technology.

Thruwall Level

Thruwall Level Meter

Level measurement using ultrasonic 'through-the-air' principles has been widely used in the process industry for many years. Pressurized vessels, varying gas densities and surface foam can all cause loss of the echo signal in conventional thruwall devices. But Hycontrol's new non-contact ultrasonic instruments are capable of monitoring levels with novel 'through the wall' techniques which overcome these fundamental problems.

This enables level measurement in totally enclosed vessels without the need to enter or cut into the tank or silo. These systems can provide a wide range of control options, from single point level switching to continuous level measurement and can be installed on a wide range of applications including hazardous and aggressive media.

These devices are easy to install as the sensors are fastened to the outside of the vessel or pipe and there is no interruption of the manufacturing process. Both fixed and portable units are available.

They are ideal for aggressive, toxic, pressurized and sterile applications as there is no contact with the product. These units are suitable for all hygienic applications. Measurement is possible even with foam on liquid surface.

Certification for Hazardous areas, zones 1 and 2 (code EExmIIT6) is available.

Hydrostatic Level

Hydrostatic Level Meter

This range of pressure transmitters has been specifically developed for the high specifications required by for accurate level measurement. The piezoresistive pressure sensor is characterized by its high signal stability and is thermal compensated to reduce errors.

A wide range of process connections are available for chemical, process and pharmaceutical applications and all wetted parts are 316L stainless steel. A flush diaphragm ensures ease of cleaning and disinfecting for the food and pharmaceutical industries.

These transducers are suitable for process temperatures up to 300 C and pressure ranges from 0-170 mbar up to 0-35 bar with adjustable zero offset up to 0-80% FSO, 10:1 turndown of pressure range and damping from 0 - 99.9 seconds. Optional HART communication is available.

Level Switches

Level Switches

Hycontrol manufactures a wide variety of level switches using a range of technologies to cover many applications.

Simple liquid level float switches are available for process and low cost OEM applications. Made from a variety of materials from plastics to stainless steel, float switches are available for many liquid level applications.

Paddle switch operate on a simple principle. A unit is usually located through the bin wall at the top, middle or low level of a bin. During normal operation (no material present) a synchronous motor rotates the paddle at 1 RPM. When this paddle rotation is impeded by the material surrounding the paddle, the motor will stall and cause the microswitch to change state and indicate an alarm or control condition. Paddle switches are suitable for many solids including powders, plastics, granular products, grains, cement, sand, fillers, pigments, wood dust, particulate materials.

Hycontrol ME capacitive level switches provide simple, accurate and reliable level control for a wide range of applications. They are suitable for use on liquids, solids, slurries, pastes, granules, powders and pellets in high temperature, high pressure and corrosive environments.

Unlike some other capacitive switches, these unit works independently of the tank walls using an integral grounding sleeve without the need for a reference probe, which enables them to be used in concrete, plastic or other non-metallic tanks. This technology also provides an ideal solution for interface detection applications such as oil on water and liquid detection underneath a layer of foam.

The Hycontrol range of Admittance level switches provide simple, accurate and reliable level control for a wide range of applications. They are suitable for use on liquids, solids, slurries, pastes, granules, powders and pellets in high temperature, high pressure and corrosive environments.

The main advantage offered by using this admittance range of switches is their ability to totally ignore product build up on the sensing probe.

This technology also provides an ideal solution for interface detection applications such as oil on water and liquid detection underneath a layer of foam.

Microwave level switchs normally consists of two parts; a transmitter and a receiver placed on the outside walls of a tank or vessel, on opposite sides. The transmitter emits a burst of microwave energy towards the receiver. If a sufficiently reflective or absorbent material interrupts the line of sight between these two units, the energy will not reach the receiver. Any loss in signal at the receiver will trigger a change of state and operate a relay to indicate high or low condition. The sensitivity is adjustable to cater for a wide range of materials.

The Microsense Doppler flow switch provides a simple non-contact, non-intrusive option suitable for many dry solids applications. The system comprises of a single transmitter/receiver which is mounted directly on to the pipe, chute or silo and has a maximum range of 2m.

During operation the transmitter emits a continuous, low power microwave beam and an output relay is energised or de-energised when movement is detected by the Doppler system. The switch trigger point is determined by the amount of microwave energy received and therefore can be adjusted to cater for different products and different senstivity settings depending on the application.

The Microsense Doppler flow switch can also be used in conjunction with the receiver section of the Microwave level switch system to give the unique capability of providing both blocked chute detection and flow no flow from a single system.
